Kennebunkport String Quartet for Weddings

Live strings for oceanfront ceremonies and seaside cocktail hours on the southern Maine coast.

Abstract Background

Music to Match the Maine Coast

Kennebunkport weddings come with rocky shoreline, historic inns and Atlantic views on almost every corner. A Kennebunkport string quartet from the Party Factor String Ensemble adds live music with the same timeless character, from a classical processional to a modern pop arrangement for your recessional.

Our players trained at the New England and Boston Conservatories and perform baroque, classical, jazz, rock and pop. Book a quartet, trio, duo or solo violinist for your ceremony and cocktail hour, and ask about any song you have in mind. The ensemble can learn most songs by request.

About Party Factor

Oceanfront Lawns and Historic Inns

Kennebunkport has a wedding setting for almost every style. Ocean Avenue runs past grand old hotels and inns, among them The Colony and the Nonantum Resort, with views out over the water. St. Ann's Episcopal Church, built from local stone right beside the ocean, is a favorite ceremony site for couples marrying on the coast. Inland, venues in Kennebunk and Arundel offer barns, gardens and woodland settings.

Strings belong in all of them. In a stone church, a quartet fills the space with warm, natural sound. On an oceanfront lawn, a trio or quartet gives the ceremony a sense of occasion that recorded music never quite manages.

Coastal weather takes some planning. We need shaded positions for the players, a stable surface and a covered backup in case of fog or rain, and we think about wind and the sound of the surf when deciding where the ensemble should sit.

Classical Elegance, Modern Range

Our ceremony repertoire covers the classics, from Pachelbel's Canon in D and Bach's Air on the G String to Handel's Water Music and Mendelssohn's Wedding March, plus reflective pieces for a reading or unity ceremony and traditional Jewish selections. For couples who want something more personal, string arrangements of pop and rock songs bring a modern touch.

During cocktail hour, the ensemble plays a relaxed mix of classical, jazz and familiar favorites while guests enjoy the view. It is one of the easiest ways to make a seaside reception feel polished from the very first glass of champagne.

When it is time to dance, the Party Factor band can take over for the reception, so the whole day's music comes from one team. The strings are also available on their own.

A Destination Wedding a Short Drive From Boston

Kennebunkport feels like a getaway, but it is only about an hour and a half from Boston. Guests can stay near Dock Square, walk to the shops and restaurants, spend a morning on Goose Rocks Beach and still be dressed and seated in time for the ceremony. It is easy to turn the wedding into a full weekend, with a welcome dinner, the ceremony and a farewell brunch.

Your music can set the tone for that kind of weekend. Relaxed prelude pieces welcome guests as they arrive from the beach and the inns. A clear, beautiful entrance marks the moment everyone stands. The recessional can be as grand or as playful as you like.

Our musicians plan their travel around summer weekend traffic on I-95 and arrive early enough to set up, tune and settle well before the first guest takes a seat.

Do you perform in Kennebunkport and along the southern Maine coast?

Yes. The Party Factor String Ensemble performs in Kennebunkport, Kennebunk and along the southern Maine coast, including York, Ogunquit and Portland. Send us your date and venue and we will confirm availability.

Can you play an oceanfront ceremony?

Yes. For oceanfront ceremonies the players need shade, a flat and stable surface and a covered backup in case of rain or fog. Wind, sun and salt air are hard on string instruments, so we plan placement with you and your venue ahead of time.

What size ensemble should we book?

A string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) gives the fullest sound for larger lawns, churches and guest counts. A trio, duo or solo violinist is a beautiful fit for smaller or more intimate ceremonies. We are happy to recommend a size for your venue.

Can the ensemble learn our song?

In most cases, yes. The ensemble can learn most songs by request. Let us know early so there is time to prepare the arrangement.

Can we book strings and the band for the same wedding?

Yes. You can book the String Ensemble for the ceremony and cocktail hour and the Party Factor band for the reception, with one team planning the music for the whole day.
